MEDICAL AND SCIENTIFIC ASPECTS OF FEMALE HAIR LOSS

WHAT:

Hair loss, or alopecia, affects millions of people: men, women of all

ages and all ethnic groups.  The cause of alopecia is complex and

includes hormones, genetics, medications, stress, severe illness, malnourishment,

infections, and autoimmune diseases.  It is estimated that nearly

30 million women in the United States have some form of hair loss.

Yet, until recently, the subject of female hair loss has been rarely addressed.

Please join

the Partnership for Women’s Health at Columbia University and the Department

of Dermatology for a symposium addressing medical and scientific aspects

of female hair loss.  Presentations by experts in the field of women’s

health will highlight hormones, treatment options, and current research

in the field.
