Dr. Robert Klitzman Quoted In The New York Times, U.S. News And World Report On Mad Cow Disease

WHAT: Dr. Robert Klitzman, assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at the College of Physicians & Surgeons and co-director of the Center for Bioethics at Columbia University, was featured as an expert in Mad Cow disease in articles appearing in the New York Times (Dec. 30) and U.S. News and World Report (Jan. 12). Dr. Klitzman is the author of “ The Trembling Mountain: a Personal Account of Kuru, Cannibals, and Mad Cow Disease,” an account of his experience conducting research among the Fore people of Papua, New Guinea. The findings, published in the journal Neuroepidemiology, turned out to be a significant contribution to the understanding of Mad Cow disease, which like Kuru, is caused by infectious protein.
