Columbia Doctors Featured on HBO Documentary

Rudolph Leibel, MD, co-director of Columbia’s Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center and of the New York Obesity Research Center and the Christopher J. Murphy Memorial Professor of Diabetes Research, and his work on the biology of body weight regulation, are featured in the HBO documentary series: The Weight of the Nation. The series premieres on Monday, May 14, at 8 pm (parts 1 & 2) and Tuesday, May 15, at 8 pm (parts 3 & 4).

Dr. Leibel and Michael Rosenbaum, MD, professor of clinical pediatrics and clinical medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, discuss their research on the physiology of the weight-reduced state in the film The Biology of Weight Loss, which will available for online viewing beginning on Monday, May 14.

Also beginning on May 14, Dr. Leibel joins Dr. Francis Collins, NIH director and leader of the Human Genome Project, and Dr. David Altshuler of Massachusetts General Hospital in exploring the causes of obesity in the online film Is Weight Something We Inherit?
