Columbia University Medical Center & NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Hold Free Cancer Information & Screening Session for Community Members

Thursday, May 24, Event is Free & Open to the Public

WHAT:  Columbia University Medical Center’s Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center (NYPH/CUMC) will co-host a community health information day on cancer research.

Cancer researchers and clinicians will present the latest research findings on different cancers that affect children and adults, including leukemia, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. Spanish translation will be provided.

Free cancer screenings, including:

–Colon cancer home test kits will be distributed
–Demonstration of self-breast exam and referrals to free low-cost mammograms
–Oral screening on site at event
–Skin screenings on site at event

Information about support services for the newly diagnosed, cancer survivors, and their families, will also be provided.

11am – 2 pm

WHERE: Armory Track & Field Center, 216 Fort Washington Avenue, NYC 10032

A limited number of sack lunches will be served.
