Northern Manhattan telethon benefits victims of Hurricane Sandy

Following Hurricane Sandy, which had a relatively small impact on Uptown Manhattan compared to other parts of the City, the community is swinging into gear and pitching in.

Community leaders and elected officials from Northern Manhattan hosted a telethon to benefit New York City victims of Hurricane Sandy on November 4. The telethon was sponsored jointly by the City University of New York (CUNY), Uptown elected officials, and community-wide institutions.

The Hispanic federation continues to collect donations on their website. (After clicking on donate, go to the HF program drop down box and click on the last item – Uptown Cares El Alto Manhattan Ayuda.)

Proceeds are going towards relief efforts, targeting residents in Staten Island and other heavily impacted areas. Funds are being handled by the Hispanic Federation Inc., a 501c-3 not for profit organization.
