Graduation 2014

Nearly 1,000 students will receive degrees during Commencement Week 2014 graduation ceremonies for Columbia University Medical Center schools. Speakers range from Columbia faculty members to a retired U.S. Air Force officer wounded in Iraq.

Details of each school’s ceremonies, listed in chronological order by school:

Columbia Nursing Graduation and White Coat Ceremony

When: Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 10 a.m.

Where: The Armory, 216 Fort Washington Ave.

Speaker: John Rowe, MD, professor of health policy & management at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, former chairman and CEO of Aetna, former president and CEO of Mount Sinai NYU Health, former professor of medicine and founding director of the Division on Aging at the Harvard Medical School, and former chief of gerontology at Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital

Mailman School of Public Health Graduation

When: Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 4 p.m.

Where: The Armory, 216 Fort Washington Ave.

College of Physicians & Surgeons MD and PhD Graduation

When: Wednesday, May 21, 2014, 2 p.m.

Where: The Armory, 216 Fort Washington Ave.

Speaker: David Blumenthal, MD, president of the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation started by philanthropist Anna M. Harkness in 1918 with the broad charge to enhance the common good and a current mission to promote a high-performing and successful health care system

Speaker: Rachel Adams, PhD, professor of English and American studies at Columbia and author of “Raising Henry: A Memoir of Motherhood, Disability, and Discovery”

Speaker: Laura N. Haiek, MD, McGill University

College of Dental Medicine Graduation
