The Year in Pictures

Columbia 4Thousands of photos are taken at the College of Physicians & Surgeons each year to document ceremonies, accompany news articles, and chronicle events ranging from art shows to student research poster sessions to receptions for visiting lecturers.

For significant events, many photos are published in slide shows on the CUMC Newsroom. But of the hundreds of shots taken, most go unused.

In 2013, P&S Communications built the first of what is to be an annual slide show, consisting of hundreds of the year’s best photos, to provide a “pre-show” to Dean Lee Goldman’s State of the School presentation in June.

The 2014 slide show, “2013–2014 In Pictures,” contains around 300 photos, including images from graduation, the staff awards ceremony, residency match day, the strategic plan update lunch, the Tom Morris education symposium, the Horwitz Prize dinner, the CUMC orchestra performance, “Me Too Monologues,” the community brain expo, a visit by students to neighborhood schools, the launch of an exhibit on African-American surgeons, and the greenmarket’s opening day.
