Columbia No. 10 in New U.S. News Global Rankings

Columbia ranked No. 10 out of the top 500 universities from 49 countries in U.S. News' inaugural Best Global Universities list. Unlike the magazine’s domestic “Best Colleges” list, which takes the undergraduate experience into account, the global ranking is almost totally quantitative. The 10 indicators used include global research reputation, number of PhDs awarded, and publications.

Columbia also did well in a number of subject areas. The university was No. 6 in psychiatry/psychology, No. 6 in social sciences and public health, No. 9 in neuroscience and behavior, and No. 12 in clinical medicine.
