CDM, magazine of the College of Dental Medicine.

The fall issue of CDM, recently redesigned, offers an in-depth update on what’s going on at the school, with news about students, alumni, faculty, and more. A Q&A with Lee Goldman, MD, Harold and Margaret Hatch Professor of the University and dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine, addresses Dr. Goldman’s vision of CUMC’s future and the role the dental school will play. Columbia Nursing, magazine of the Columbia University School of Nursing

The latest issue of Columbia Nursing, formerly the Academic Nurse, has a whole new name and look. With an easy-to-read design and layout, the publication highlights strong images alongside in-depth articles. In addition to a roundup of recent research and school news, the magazine includes a feature on how working in the community helps students debunk stereotypes and better care for their patients. Stories about the rise of midwifery and the contributions of nurses in treating obesity demonstrate the key role of nurses in both childbirth and addressing a major public health issue. Columbia Public Health, magazine of the Mailman School of Public Health

This fall, Columbia Public Health, the magazine of the Mailman School of Public Health, features a striking cover image and lead story on Mary Bassett, MD, a long-time Mailman faculty member in epidemiology, a 1979 P&S graduate, and the health commissioner for New York City. Other stories include a feature on a new research initiative that identifies high-impact health policies for resource-limited countries and Mailman research on incarceration-prevention. Read stories from the magazine online.

Columbia Medicine, magazine of the College of Physicians & Surgeons

The cover story of the fall/winter issue of the College of Physicians & Surgeons' alumni magazine is a powerful look at veterans on campus, including an exceptional second-year student who, while in the armed forces, never imagined he would go on to pursue a career as a doctor. The magazine also includes a feature on the Taub Institute’s world-leading brain bank, where more than 5,000 brains with neurogenerative diseases are housed and studied. Other highlights include a story on interdiscliplinary dermatology research, as well as updates on the new Medical and Graduate Education Building’s construction, clinical advances at the school, and alumni notes.
