Macaulay to Lead Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lawrence Hospital

William B. Macaulay, Jr., MD, has been appointed director of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. Dr. Macaulay will direct the expansion of orthopedics programs at NYP/Lawrence, which began recently with the recruitment of several surgeons in various orthopedic subspecialties.

An internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Macaulay brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence. He is an expert in the use of minimally invasive techniques that maximize patient comfort and mobility.

Stinchfield Professor and chair of clinical orthopedic surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. “Dr. Macaulay’s leadership as chief of orthopedic surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital, combined with expanded clinical offices at ColumbiaDoctors Tarrytown, will allow us to deliver the most advanced orthopedic care to more patients by enabling us to offer both consultation and treatment directly to the community. Dr. Macaulay has been a key member of Columbia’s Department of Orthopedics for many years. In his new role, he will oversee care at the Joint Replacement Center at NYP/Lawrence, as well as other orthopedic surgery programs. In addition to his appointment at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence, Dr. Macaulay will continue in his roles at NYP/Columbia as director of the Center for Hip and Knee Replacement and co-chief of the Division of Hip and Knee Reconstruction. At Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he is the Nas S. Eftekhar Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery and director of the Clinical Hip and Knee Fellowship.

A total of 18 providers from the Department of Orthopedics, representing all specialties including pediatric orthopedics, now see patients at the Tarrytown office of ColumbiaDoctors, while 14 providers representing all adult orthopedic specialties, as well as adolescent sports medicine, now have privileges at Lawrence Hospital.
