Two Join Managed Care Team, Assistant Director Named

ColumbiaDoctors Managed Care Contracting division recently welcomed two new team members to the contracting group and the clinical business development unit, and promoted an integral member of the team into the assistant director’s role.

“Now that we have rounded out our Managed Care team with additional communications, customer service, and analytics capabilities, the resources now available will allow us to successfully navigate the complexities of the changing managed care marketplace,” said Aren Laljie, ColumbiaDoctors chief financial officer.

Priscilla Hidalgo is our newest contract manager. Previously, Hidalgo served at Montefiore Medical Center, where she worked on patient portal implementation and provider relations. She replaces Marlene Almonte, and is responsible for all communications from contracting to all departmental and FPO administrative staff, and serves as the primary liaison to the payers for issues from the clinical departments, CRO, and PEG. She can be reached at ph2476@cumc.columbia.edu.

Juliana (Julie) Horwath has joined our team as senior financial analyst. She will be responsible for contracting modeling and analysis, maintenance of fee schedules, undercharging reports, and maintaining contracts in Experian. Horwath also will assist Anna Lee of the clinical business development unit with analyses and decision support. Horwath’s background is in in managed care contract analysis and reporting. Suzette Torres has been promoted from senior financial analyst to assistant director, Managed Care Contracting, effective this month. Torres has an extensive background in physician revenue cycle management, managed care contracting and analysis, and physician practice operations. In her new role, she will continue to supervise contract modeling and analysis while also working on direct negotiation of terms and resolution of payer issues. The team reports to Beth Mayers, director of the Managed Care Contracting division. In her role, Mayers leads all aspects of managed care contracting for ColumbiaDoctors, including negotiation of rates and terms, resolution of escalated payer issues, payer relationships, and contract compliance.
