Columbia University School of Nursing Launches New Continuing Nursing Education Program

New York, NY –February 16, 2015-- Columbia University School of Nursing announced a new continuing education (CNE) program today, providing new learning opportunities for nurses to achieve professional growth and development.

The program allows nurses with a minimum RN requirement to gain specialized knowledge and meet re-licensure and certification needs at an Ivy-League academic medical center.  The program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Many courses are taught by Columbia Nursing faculty and alumni.

The program features a full selection of courses as well as webinar/online offerings that can be attended remotely, taught by highly-qualified advance practice nurse educators. These include:

• A What’s New series covering the latest evidence-based practice in diabetes, cardiac disease, pain management and psycho-pharmacology.

• A Skills Series including radiology review and lab interpretation.

• Procedures including advanced suturing and IV therapy.

“Columbia Nursing has a long standing commitment to excellence in nursing education. Our new CNE program expands our reach and brings this commitment to the wider community of professional nurses,” said Judy Honig, DNP, Associate Dean of Academics and Dean of Students, Columbia University School of Nursing.

“With the changing demography, shifting health care landscape and emerging sciences and technology, lifelong learning has never been more important.  The program offers a compendium of courses that will enrich practicing nurses with the most up to date evidence for practice and workshops to learn and refine their skills.”
