Rachel Lewis, MD FAAP, has been named associate chief medical information officer of ColumbiaDoctors. Dr. Lewis, an assistant professor of Pediatrics at CUMC, reports to CMIO Timothy J. Crimmins, MD, RPVI.
In this newly created role, Dr. Lewis will assist in the design and application of EHR software and applications, convert and analyze medical and health data, ensure quality care across multiple information systems, and leverage our data to improve service and daily operations, according to Dr. Crimmins.
Dr. Lewis also is the subdivision director for the ColumbiaDoctors Pediatrics offices on the Upper West Side and in Midtown. Dr. Lewis received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian.
She was named chief resident in Pediatrics for 2002-2003. She has worked as a general pediatrician on the faculty of Columbia University Medical Center for her entire career, and has presided over the expansion of the general pediatrics faculty practice that forms the core of Columbia’s general pediatrics presence outside of the main hospital campus.
